Naming Ceremonies are a happy alternative for families who want to have a ceremony to welcome a child into their family, but prefer not to have a religious ceremony.
Naming Ceremonies provide an opportunity for friends or relatives to make a commitment to maintain a special relationship with the child while he or she is growing up and throughout their lives.
For your Naming Ceremony, you can choose a ceremony that I have prepared, you can write your own, or together we can create a ceremony specially for your child.
Naming Ceremonies are not baptisms or christenings, as these only take place in churches as part of Christian tradition.
Generally each child has one male and one female guardian, mentor or godparent, but it is also possible for a child to have a number of special people who would like to make a commitment to care for the child along with the parents.
These special people may include grandparents and other relatives, as well as friends of the child’s mother and father.
It is easy for me to include up to eight special people on the Naming Certificate if the family has more than two godparents, guardians or mentors for the child.
I am happy to provide a free consultation and quote in person or by phone or email before you decide whether or not to use my services.
My fee includes:
My fee does not include travel time and costs for Naming Ceremonies over 50 kilometres from my home, or Certificates for additional godparents, guardians or mentors when there are more than two of these.
